UK Parliament Education
The UK Parliament’s Education Service provides school visits, workshops, online games, videos and activities to support young people’s understanding of Parliament and democracy. Their publications were becoming out of touch with their age groups and they needed new ways to engage with politics.
Challenge
Getting young people involved in politics is no mean feat but when you are approached to redesign the literature for the Parliament Education Service I saw an opportunity to change perception. The design and content of each publication are tailored to the four key stage age groups, for example Key Stage 2 (for 7–11-year-olds) features a range of custom cartoon-style characters: children, MPs, peers and the monarch with a small boy guiding the young readers through the content.
